Why our school is called ‘Schoolhouse’

slc_name
The word ‘Schoolhouse’ is generally used to describe the kind of small, one-room school that used to be very common in rural parts of the United States and Canada. Class sizes at these schools were small, and teachers cared greatly about their students and their students’ learning. These schools emphasized educational fundamentals such as phonics, reading, and writing. It was the hope of the teacher that by imparting these skills, students would be prepared to continue learning independently long after they had left the schoolhouse.

Schoolhouse Language Center shares much with the schoolhouses of the past. We also have small classes, so every student has ample opportunity to participate. Our teachers are very committed to their students, and do all they can to help their students progress. We also place great emphasis on sound educational fundamentals. It is our goal that by the time students leave Schoolhouse, they will have the skills and desire to continue learning English on their own.
